Why handcrafted alpaca silver bombillas?
A mass-stamped bombilla is nothing like a piece worked by hand. Alpaca silver and craftsmanship make the difference in every mate.
Better than industrial steel
Alpaca silver (nickel silver) is the classic alloy of Argentine mate: copper, nickel and zinc with a silvery shine. Good-quality alpaca transfers less heat to the tip, leaves no metallic taste and brings an elegance to the ritual that mass-produced steel can't match. It's metal for life, not a disposable accessory.
Handcrafted, not factory-made
In industrial bombillas, the folds and slits of the filter are the weak point: with use they open up, warp and wear out sooner. Here every joint is soldered and finished by hand, with extra thickness and reinforcement where it's needed. The filter keeps its shape and the stem doesn't give way at the folds.
A piece to pass down
Handmade, it can be engraved, chiselled and cared for like a piece of silverwork. It's not just another bombilla: it's a one-of-a-kind piece made to accompany long after-dinner chats, travels and shared mates for years.
About us
We love mate, but we're not purists.
Sometimes we drink it with a “montañita”, sometimes long after it has gone weak, but always aware that, even far from home, drinking mate connects us with our roots, because the yerba that tints the water and gives it flavour is full of the minerals and nutrients of our land.
Over the years we realised this ritual gets even better with a good bombilla, and that's how this journey began.
